Learning outcomes and graduate attributes

Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. These outcomes are aligned with the graduate attributes. The unit learning outcomes and graduate attributes are also the basis of evaluating prior learning.

On completion of this unit, students should be able to:

GA1: Intellectual rigour, GA2: Creativity, GA3: Ethical practice, GA4: Knowledge of a discipline, GA5: Lifelong learning, GA6: Communication and social skills, GA7: Cultural competence

1 demonstrate understanding of the anatomical and physiological changes that occur across the lifespan in the context of appropriate.
2 explain gait development and changes due to ageing and pathological conditions and apply this to the development of training programs.
3 describe the musculoskeletal and cardiovascular problems of ageing and apply this to age related responses to exercise.
4 demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of exercise capacity, flexibility and muscular strength, endurance and power across the lifespan.
5 evaluate the evidence for the long-term benefits of exercise to produce improved outcomes in an ageing population.
6 demonstrate competence in modifying standard or adopting appropriate fitness tests to accommodate children and older adults.
