Learning outcomes and graduate attributes

Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. These outcomes are aligned with the graduate attributes. The unit learning outcomes and graduate attributes are also the basis of evaluating prior learning.

On completion of this unit, students should be able to:

GA1: Intellectual rigour, GA2: Creativity, GA3: Ethical practice, GA4: Knowledge of a discipline, GA5: Lifelong learning, GA6: Communication and social skills, GA7: Cultural competence

1 demonstrate advanced understanding of the logical sequence of ecological investigations
2 apply best-practice design considerations to ecological investigations
3 make informed judgement about optimal sampling methods for different marine habitats and organisms
4 design pilot studies to optimise the outcomes of ecological investigations
5 critically evaluate the quality of published research work
6 optimally present findings of studies for a range of different communication types
7 reflect on the primary concepts of the unit and demonstrate informed judgement to develop a series of experiments to address an environmental issue.
