Learning outcomes and graduate attributes

Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. These outcomes are aligned with the graduate attributes. The unit learning outcomes and graduate attributes are also the basis of evaluating prior learning.

On completion of this unit, students should be able to:

GA1: Intellectual rigour, GA2: Creativity, GA3: Ethical practice, GA4: Knowledge of a discipline, GA5: Lifelong learning, GA6: Communication and social skills, GA7: Cultural competence

1 Describe cellular changes that occur in normal adaptive processes and in selected abnormal or disease processes.
2 Describe the different types of microorganisms and the mechanisms by which they cause infectious disease.
3 Explain features of inheritance, gene expression and genetic changes for selected genetic and congenital disorders
4 Describe selected neoplasms with respect to their type, risk factors for development, and signs and symptoms.
5 Contrast the mechanical, physiological and biochemical changes found in selected disorders to normal anatomy and physiology.
6 Critically analyse selected pharmaceutical and natural therapies with respect to their safety and efficacy.
7 Distinguish the differences in the clinical presentation of selected similar disorders.
