Unit description

Builds on the curriculum of Photography and Digital Imaging, using advanced creative techniques and ideas for camera work, lighting and personal expression. Students are encouraged to use these in a context of their own choosing to complete a finished suite of artworks.

  • On and off camera flash techniques
  • Large format printing 
  • Review of contemporary photo-based production methods
  • Photography and text
  • Photographic theory
  • Review of contemporary photographic genres and styles
  • Prepare photographic works for exhibition
  • Occupational health and safety issues

Learning outcomes

Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. On completion of this unit, students should be able to:

produce publications and imagery appropriate to visual art and design

effectively integrate work developed on appropriate software applications into one artwork

demonstrate an extended capacity to integrate typographic and pictorial imagery

critically appraise their own publication material and the work of others

show evidence of the development of ideas and skills towards final artworks.
