Learning outcomes
Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. These outcomes are aligned with the graduate attributes. The unit learning outcomes and graduate attributes are also the basis of evaluating prior learning.
On completion of this unit, students should be able to:
competently perform a range of animal husbandry and handling techniques under direct supervision, on species commonly seen in veterinary practice, while engaging in reflective practice
apply knowledge of normal and abnormal behaviours to accurately describe and recognise behavioural patterns in domestic animals and common wildlife species
apply knowledge of animal welfare to accurately describe and recognise welfare indicators in domestic and common wildlife species
apply knowledge of the economics of animal management and farming/production systems to describe their significance on animal health and welfare outcomes for species commonly encountered in veterinary practice.
