Learning outcomes

Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. These outcomes are aligned with the graduate attributes. The unit learning outcomes and graduate attributes are also the basis of evaluating prior learning.

On completion of this unit, students should be able to:

Identify business financial decisions, their impacts on value, and the nature of the broader financial and regulatory environment in which these decisions are made.

Apply financial mathematics to the analysis of practical finance problems and opportunities.

Measure risk and return, and explain the risk-return trade-off and diversification.

Evaluate capital investments using appropriate capital budgeting techniques.

Compare and appraise alternative capital structures and distribution policies.
