Unit description

Introduces the regulatory setting and the framework of financial reporting of companies listed on the Australian Stock Exchange, as well as specific techniques required to account for and report on transactions of corporate entities. In addition, the application of selected accounting standards in the financial reports will be reviewed and evaluated.

Module 2: Accounting for non-current assets, acquisition of assets and intangible assets
 
Module 3: Accounting for liabilities, equity and leasing
 
Module 4: Accounting for income taxes
 
Module 5: Foreign currency and business combinations

Learning outcomes

On completion of this unit, students should be able to:

identify regulatory features, frameworks and disclosures for external financial reporting

apply accounting frameworks and standards relating to assets

apply accounting frameworks and standards related to liabilities, leasing, equity and income taxes

apply accounting frameworks and standards related to foreign currency transactions, business combinations and consolidation.
