Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. On completion of this unit, students should be able to:

1 demonstrate competence in basic design principles and be able to apply them in the practice of the ceramics discipline
2 demonstrate understanding of a variety of production methods used in the studio environment, have an appreciation of the nature of various media, their properties and uses, and be able to work with materials and techniques in an imaginative and engaging manner
3 demonstrate an understanding of relevant terminology commonly used in the ceramics discipline
4 demonstrate an understanding of the synthesis between concept, design solution, process and ceramics production
5 have formed a growing awareness of the contemporary and historical context of the chosen ceramics discipline and the role of the artist/designer in the community
6 possess the knowledge and ability to achieve safe working practices in the activities of the Ceramics studio.

On completion of this unit, students should be able to:
