If you're interested in engineering and you want to work in a dynamic industry with diverse career prospects, the Undergraduate Certificate in Engineering is an excellent way to start your journey.

This course develops your academic skills and provides an introduction to the foundational knowledge you'll need to pursue further studies in engineering. 

You'll complete two core units and choose from a selection of elective units, depending on your interest. 

Graduates of this course will be eligible for entry and four units of credit towards the Bachelor of Engineering Systems (Honours) or the Diploma of Science (Engineering) and to a career in the dynamic fields of civil or mechanical engineering.

Entry requirements

Applicants for admission to candidature to the Undergraduate Certificate in Engineering must have an assessable entry qualification from a country where English is the main language and where the medium of instruction for that qualification was English, or have completed an International English Language Test (or comparable test scores*) with:

  • a minimum overall score of 5.5 and a minimum score of 5.0 in each subtest (or comparable test scores*), except for writing with a minimum score of 5.5

Course requirements

Entry Award:

To be eligible to receive the Undergraduate Certificate in Engineering, students must complete the equivalent of 4 units (48 credit points), comprising:

  • 2 core units (24 credit points) and
  • 2 option units (24 credit points)

 

Exit Pathway:

Students admitted to the Bachelor of Engineering Systems (Honours) or the Diploma/Associate Degree of Civil Construction (Engineering and Management) may be eligible to exit with the Undergraduate Certificate in Engineering after completing 4 approved core units (48 credit points), as listed in the Schedule of Units.
