Overview
The Master of Human Resources and Organisational Development (MHROD) is a professionally recognised degree designed to build on students’ experience and skills and assist them with managing complex issues that arise in human resources and organisational development. The course provides specialist knowledge in the areas of strategic human resource management, organisational change and development, employment relationships, leadership and people management, and international human resource management. Students undertake an industry research project and study a variety of HR specific units. They can also select units from specialist management areas to gain advanced knowledge in their area of expertise or to differentiate.
Students who have completed a relevant bachelor degree may receive four units of advanced standing towards this Masters degree.

Students study ten core units (see course structure) and select six HR specific or general management elective units from any of the following specialist study areas, or they can specialise in one or two of these areas:

Entry requirements
- Applicants for admission to candidature in the Master of Human Resources and Organisational Development may be selected where they can demonstrate professional standing approved by the School Board to be equivalent to the requirements of Rule 2, Section 3.
- With reference to Schedule B in Rule 2, Section 1 the level of attainment should be at least equivalent to IELTS 6.5.
Credit for prior learning
- Candidates for the Master of Human Resources and Organisational Development who have completed a Bachelor Degree in a cognate field may be granted four (4) units of Advanced Standing from Part B of the Schedule;
- Candidates who have completed a Graduate Certificate in a cognate field may be granted four (4) units of Advanced Standing from Part B of the Schedule;
- Candidates who can demonstrate academic or professional standing approved by the School Board to be equivalent to the requirements of Advanced Standing Rules (a) and (b) may be awarded the equivalent advanced standing.
- Candidates for the Master of Human Resources and Organisational Development who have completed all the requirements for the Graduate Diploma of Human Resources and Organisational Development, the Graduate Diploma of Vocational Education and Training, the Graduate Diploma of Leadership and Workplace Development, or another equivalent Graduate Diploma may be granted advanced standing for up to eight (8) units.
- Candidates for the Master of Human Resources and Organisational Development or the Graduate Diploma of Human Resources and Organisational Development who have completed all the requirements for the Graduate Certificate of Human Resources and Organisational Development, the Graduate Certificate of Vocational Education and Training, the Graduate Certificate in Leadership and Workplace Development, or another equivalent Graduate Certificate may be granted advanced standing for up to four (4) units.
- Candidates for the Master of Human Resources and Organisational Development, Graduate Diploma of Human Resources and Organisational Development or the Graduate Certificate of Human Resources and Organisational Development may be granted advanced standing of up to four (4) units on the basis of five (5) years relevant work experience or professional qualifications obtained through formal or non-formal study.
Course requirements
- To be eligible for the Master of Human Resources and Organisational Development a candidate must successfully complete not less than sixteen (16) units comprising all units in Part A and six (6) units from Part B of the Schedule.
- To be eligible for the Master of Human Resources and Organisational Development a candidate who has completed a Bachelor Degree with Honours in a cognate field with a minimum of second class honours division two, or a Graduate Diploma in a cognate field or equivalent must complete no less than eight (8) units comprising MNG00785 Project Management, and MNG93003 Industry Research Project and not less than five (5) additional units from Part A.
- To be eligible for the award of Graduate Diploma of Human Resources and Organisational Development a candidate shall successfully complete not less than eight (8) units from Part A.

To be eligible for the award of Graduate Certificate of Human Resources and Organisational Development a candidate shall successfully complete the following four (4) units from Part A:
MNG00704 Human Resource Development;
MNG00724 Human Resource Management;
MNG00786 International and Comparative Human Resource Management; and
MNG03217 Leading and Managing People. - A candidate in the Master of Human Resources and Organisational Development who has completed (8) units and met the requirements for the Graduate Diploma of Human Resources and Organisational Development or the Graduate Certificate of Human Resources and Organisational Development may elect to be awarded the respective Graduate Diploma or Graduate Certificate following withdrawal from candidature for the Master of Professional Graduate Diploma of Human Resources and Organisational Development.
- A candidate in the Graduate Diploma of Human Resources and Organisational Development who has completed the requirements for the Graduate Certificate of Human Resources and Organisational Development may elect to be awarded the Graduate Certificate of Human Resources and Organisational Development following withdrawal from candidature for the Graduate Diploma of Human Resources and Organisational Development.
