IT professionals are always in-demand and at the forefront of the technology revolution. The skills you develop could help shape future technologies. If you’re ready to advance your career in the fast-paced field of Information Communication Technology (ICT), then the Master of Computing can help you get there.
This course will deepen your understanding of contemporary Information Technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning and the Internet of Things while providing you with a solid foundation on computer networks, software development, data structures & algorithms, and cybersecurity. Your professional development will be enhanced by completing practical assessment activities in problem-solving and ICT solution development. In addition to core units, the course builds substantial expertise in areas such as Smart Cities, Big Data Analytics and Cybersecurity through the completion of research projects.
You will gain expert knowledge in your chosen field through a specialisation in Big Data Analysis, Pervasive Computing or Smart Environments.
The Master of Computing is also available via an online delivery mode. Advanced standing may apply to students who have completed relevant undergraduate and postgraduate study.

Students choose a specialisation from the following:
Big Data Analysis: Develop the skills to discover trends and patterns in large amount of raw data and how to apply this information to make informed decisions.
Pervasive Computing: Discover how information technology has allowed information sharing from anywhere, any time on multiple devices. Build skills in programming the Internet of Things and mobile and cloud systems.
Smart Environments: Explore how technology can be used to create networks that increase efficiency and solutions for an environment while collating data. Learn about smart liveable cities and engineering for a sustainable future.

Entry requirements
To be eligible for entry into this course, applicants must meet the University’s standard minimum admission requirements for postgraduate courses:
- completed a bachelor degree (AQF 7) or equivalent; or
- equivalent work experience as determined by the faculty.
Language requirements
English language requirements apply to International applicants and other applicants whose previous study was undertaken in a language other than English. The minimum English language requirements for such applicants for entry to this course are as follows

Course requirements
To be eligible to receive the Master of Computing students must complete 16 units (192 credit points), comprising:
- 1 specialisation in Smart Environments or Pervasive Computing or Big Data Analysis (192 credit points).
Exit Awards
Students may be eligible to exit with the Graduate Diploma of Computing after completing the equivalent of 8 units (96 credit points), comprising 8 core units as specified in the Graduate Diploma of Computing program.
Students may be eligible to exit with the Graduate Certificate in Computing after completing the equivalent of 4 units (48 credit points), comprising 4 core units as specified in the Graduate Certificate in Computing program.
