Overview

The internationally-recognised MBA develops business knowledge and practical skills to advance your career in today’s competitive global markets. You'll gain a broad understanding of contemporary management operations, as well as learning how to solve complex issues and manage the challenges of technology and finance, and other critical business factors.

Your professional expertise will be honed by completing practical assessment activities in leadership, problem solving and communication skills. In addition to core units, the course builds substantial expertise in an area through the completion of a research project.

You have the option of selecting either a specialisation, which includes an industry research project, or choosing two elective units from a wide range of subjects together with the industry research project. The industry research project is ideal for developing extensive knowledge of an issue related to your current workplace or to a career you wish to pursue.

The Master of Business Administration is also available via an online delivery mode, offering up to six intakes a year. Advanced standing may apply to students who have completed relevant undergraduate and postgraduate study.

Course Learning Outcome

Demonstrate high level critical thinking, independent judgement and the ability to reflect on self and others in a complex business environment.

Develop innovative solutions to complex business problems.

Demonstrate a critical understanding of complex ethical and socially responsible business practices informed by a global perspective.

Demonstrate an advanced and integrated understanding of a body of knowledge in one or more discipline areas.

Design and coordinate systematic approaches to complex problem solving in a business context.

Apply expert communication and collaboration skills to inform and engage with a diverse range of stakeholders.

Demonstrate a critical understanding of culturally appropriate business practices informed by a global perspective.

As part of this course, students may choose to undertake a 150-hour internship (equivalent to one unit) in either a paid or unpaid position. This practical experience, combined with theoretical understanding, enhances the learning experience for students.

The pre-requisite unit, BUSN5002 Business Professional Practice, assists students to identify suitable roles and prepare an interview-standard job application. Access to a database of potential employers and positions and ongoing support from the dedicated Work Integrated Learning team is provided.

You will study four foundation units, eight core units and select either a specialisation, which includes an industry research project, or two elective units in addition to the industry research project. By studying a specialisation, you build substantial and specialised expertise to complement the general management focus of the core units.

Specialisations available:

  • Accounting
  • Managing and Leading People.
