Overview
The graduate entry Bachelor of Laws (LLB) is a three-year degree which meets the requirements for admission as a lawyer throughout Australia. Whatever their field of interest, the LLB will equip students with the intellectual, critical and practical skills needed in the professional practice of law.
The Bachelor of Laws is offered on campus and by distance education. Some units include on-campus law workshops.

Honours is embedded in the Bachelor of Laws degree and requires the completion of two specified Law units in addition to a high academic achievement overall.

Career Outcomes
The Bachelor of Laws fulfils the academic requirements for admission to the legal profession. Professional admission authorities also require law graduates of all universities to complete practical legal training or similar to be eligible for admission.
Students who intend to practise law outside Australia should check with the relevant country's admission body to confirm their admission requirements.

Entry requirements
Applicants for admission to candidature shall have either:
- qualified for any bachelor degree of this or another Australian university or other equivalent institution; or
- have qualifications which in the opinion of the School Board are equivalent to the above.
Credit for prior learning
- A candidate who has completed the Associate Degree in Law (Paralegal Studies) may be granted advanced standing for up to a total of sixteen (16) units into the undergraduate Bachelor of Laws degree.
- A candidate who has completed the Bachelor of Legal and Justice Studies may be granted advanced standing for up to a total of eight (8) units into the graduate Bachelor of Laws degree.
Course requirements

To be eligible for the award of Bachelor of Laws Graduate Entry a candidate shall successfully complete not less than twenty-four (24) units comprising:
- all units listed in Part A of the Schedule of Units attached to these Rules;
- eight (8) units from Part B or Part C of the Schedule, with no more than two (2) units being from Part C; and
- have completed a degree or hold equivalent qualifications as specified in Admission Requirement (c) above.
- A candidate who, while enrolled for a double degree with law, has completed the requirements for the Bachelor of Laws may elect to be awarded the Bachelor of Laws following withdrawal from candidature for the Double degree.
Law Degree with Honours

A candidate for the award of Bachelor of Laws with Honours shall fulfil the requirements of the Bachelor of Laws award, and in addition:
- shall achieve such standard of excellence as the School Board, School of Law and Justice, may from time to time determine;
- shall complete the units LAW10181 Legal Research: Context, Perspective and Method and LAW00524 Independent Legal Research.

For the award of Honours, consideration shall be given to a candidate’s academic record throughout the course of study. A candidate who has reached the required standard of excellence referred to in Law Degree with Honours Rule (a) may on the recommendation of the School Board in the School of Law and Justice, be awarded Honours in one of the following grades:
- First Class Honours
- Second Class Honours – Division I
- Second Class Honours – Division II
