Course summary

Transition to Uni is a free, intensive preparatory course designed for recent school leavers and current ATAR-eligible Year 12 students. 

The full-time intensive program is a six-week course. Each week involves 10 hours of class and up to 30 hours for independent study and assessment preparation. 

The course develops the key academic literacies and the foundational scientific and mathematical concepts you will need at university, through interactive online modules, live online classes and assessment preparation. You can proceed to a degree with the confidence you are ready to succeed in your university studies.

Graduates of the Transition to Uni program are eligible for entry into a Southern Cross University undergraduate degree*.  

  • Some courses have additional entry requirements such as an interview or English language requirements. Please refer to the relevant course page for further information.
  • Students seeking entry to the Bachelor of Engineering Systems (Honours) on the basis of completion of Transition to Uni must achieve a Distinction or above in the unit UNIP1007 Science and Maths for University.
  • Students seeking entry to the Bachelor of Midwifery on the basis of completion of Transition to Uni must achieve a Credit average or above in the program.

This course consists of two core units designed to prepare students for critical reading and writing, and scientific and mathematical problem-solving at university. The two core units are:

  • Science and Maths for University.

Each of these units involves around 20 hours of study per week. In total, students should expect to spend up to 40 hours on study each week during Transition to Uni.

Participation

Students who do not participate in a unit before census date will be deemed to be inactive and unenrolled from the unit.  Participation is determined by presence on the online learning site.
