Overview
Career Start (Study Abroad) is a full-time course that starts with 10 weeks of English (English for Academic Purposes or EAP program), followed by four (4) units of academic study aligned to your chosen field. This can be in either a business, nursing and allied health, tourism and hospitality, science or arts stream over one session.
This course is offered by SCU College which works with you and for you along the way, offering support through College Connect and additional workshops to develop your academic and study skills.
Successful completion of this course makes you eligible for credit into our Diploma of Business or Diploma of Science. Students who complete the Nursing and Allied Health stream can progress to the Bachelor of Nursing, Bachelor of Occupational Therapy or Bachelor of Podiatry.

Tuition fees are in Australian dollars, and are subject to change, including annual increases over the duration of a course. Annual tuition fee is based on completing 8 units per year. In addition, students are required to pay OSHC for the duration of their visa in advance. Non-tuition fee covers textbooks, stationery and excursions. |

Note 1:
A specialised pathway into the Bachelor of Nursing and Allied Health degrees (occupational therapy and podiatry only) is available for students commencing with an English language score comparable to Academic IELTS 6.0, with no band less than 5.5. Graduates of Career Start (Study Abroad) in the Nursing and Allied Health Stream qualify for direct entry into the Bachelor of Nursing, Bachelor of Occupational Therapy, and the Bachelor of Podiatry at Southern Cross University. Up to one unit of advanced standing is included in this pathway.
Note 2:
Students enrolling in the Arts, Business, Science, or Tourism and Hospitality Streams must select Language and Learning in Your Discipline. Nursing and Allied Health Stream students must select Postgraduate Preparation.
Note 3:
This double weighted unit is only available to students enrolling in the Nursing and Allied Health stream
Note 4:
Students who are planning to follow the pathway into the Bachelor of Occupational Therapy or the Bachelor of Podiatry are advised to enrol in BIO01302.
Note 5:
Students who are planning to follow the pathway into the Bachelor of Nursing are advised to enrol in BIO10662.

This is a core unit.
Note 7:
Nursing and Allied Health stream is only available with a session 2 start at Lismore campus.
