Notes

Note 1: BUSN3005 - Internship A and BUSN3006 - Internship B are both double-weighted units requiring a 16 unit pre-requisite including the Professional Development for the Workplace unit (BUSN2001 - Professional Development for the Workplace). Please be aware of this double-weighting if you are restricted in the number of electives you can select in your major. All internship placements must be approved by the relevant Course Coordinator, prior to commencement. Please forward any queries to the Professional Experience Coordinator on wil@scu.edu.au
Note 2: Only available to students studying at the Institute of Business Studies (IBS) in Papua New Guinea
Note 3: The Bachelor of Business Finance Major is a pathway to many financial services positions such as Commercial Banking, Corporate Finance, Funds Management and Stockbroking, Financial Risk Management, Foreign Exchange and Investment Banking. If your chosen career path is to become a licenced Financial Planner or Financial Adviser, you need to be aware that recent legislative changes in the finance industry now require new entrants to hold an Approved Degree. While SCU is in the process of liaising with FASEA to develop and restructure its finance degrees to meet the new educational requirements, a timeline of when this will occur cannot be provided at this stage. For more information on Approved Degrees or educational pathways, please contact the Financial Advisor Standards Ethics Authority (FASEA) to confirm the educational accreditation requirements needed for your future career path. https://www.fasea.gov.au
Note 4: For students wishing to also meet the Tax Practitioner Board’s educational requirements for Tax Agent Licencing, it is recommended you enrol in two further units as electives as follows: ACCT3001 - Advanced Taxation; AND LEGL2001 - Introduction to Land Law, OR LAWS2022 - Competition and Consumer Law.
Note 5: Students considering taking the Accounting and Finance majors as a double major are advised to contact the Course Coordinator before enrolling into the majors.
