The Associate Degree of Arts is a two-year (full-time or part-time equivalent) entry-level course that prepares students for continuing study and/or participation in a range of areas relevant to the humanities, culture, society and creative arts. It is a pathway into SCU's Bachelor degree studies in the areas of humanities, arts and creative arts

Graduates of the Associate Degree of Arts are guaranteed entry into the following linked degree program: Bachelor of Arts. Other pathways to arts-related courses are possible but may require a portfolio of work to enrol.

Graduates may receive up to 16 units of credit towards their undergraduate degree (depends on course and units studied).

This course is offered through SCU College. All SCU College students are offered extra support through College Connect while undertaking this Associate degree.

These study options assist students’ progression to a major area of study (depending on units completed), should they decide to articulate into Southern Cross University's Bachelor of Arts.

Course requirements

See the University’s Rules Relating to Awards, in conjunction with the Specific Award Rules listed below.

  1. To be eligible for the award of Associate Degree of Arts a candidate shall successfully complete the equivalent of  sixteen (16) units (192 credit points) comprising:
    1. all eight (8) units listed in Part A; and
    2. Any eight (8) elective units chosen from Part B subject to pre-requisites.
  2. A candidate who while enrolled in the Associate Degree of Arts has completed the equivalent of eight (8) units (96 credit points) from Part A and/or Part B may elect to be awarded a Diploma of Arts following withdrawal from candidature for the Associate Degree.
